Fletton Detachment Cadets visit the National ACF Museum

Over the past three weeks Cadets from Fletton Detachment, No1 (Hereward) Company visited the National Army Cadet Force Museum located within the Octavia Hill Birthplace House, Wisbech.

The aim of the visit was for the cadets to understand more about Octavia Hill and specifically her work in establishing the first independent Cadet Company in 1889.

The evening visit included a short presentation on Octavia’s life and legacy along with a tour of the Birthplace House and National ACF Museum. A short quiz provided both interest and the challenge of completing the 10 part quiz.

Octavia Hill Birthplace House Trustees, David Denson TD and Mark Knight MBE DL arranged the visit.

Feedback from the Cadets was very positive……….comments included “ it adds to the ACF History already learnt”, “ It tells us about Octavia and her achievements in Housing and the National Trust” and it’s a great and interesting place to visit especially the recreation of a Victorian slum”

Cadets were shown an interactive screen with photographs and videos together with a virtual tour of the Museum. Importantly for those unable to visit in person you can view the tour by clicking the link below:
