Little Hell

Visit our spooky basement area to learn about the horrors of Victorian poverty in the area of London known as “Little Hell”. It was scenes such as these which made Octavia Hill devote her life to improving housing conditions and general quality of life for families forced to live in such squalid conditions in England’s cities.

Lift access to Little Hell is available, however anyone visiting the basement by lift must be able to evacuate up a short flight of stairs in the event of fire. An alternative route is available to continue your tour without visiting the basement, we recommend this for nervous individuals especially children under the age of five.
