Call goes out to the Hills

Everyone who shares the surname of Wisbech’s most famous daughter has been invited to a celebration at the house where she was born.

The family of Octavia Hill, the social reformer and co-founder of the National Trust, is being remembered at Hill Day, which is being staged on Sunday (September 22) at the Birthplace House at  7 South Brink, Wisbech.

Among the clan members who are being celebrated is Arthur Hill, Octavia’s half brother, who was also born at the Birthplace House and went on to become mayor of Reading.

The event, which concludes an open week at the museum, runs from 1.30pm to 4.30pm and entry is free.
